Sathyan Master Manuel Satyanesan Nadar was a unique actor who broke the stereotypes of heroism in Malayalam cinema. Having played various roles in his life as a teacher, clerk, soldier, policeman and drama actor, Satyanesan Nadar became the Sathyan Master of Malayalam cinema with only one irreplaceable acting skill.

From his early days on the silver screen to his last days, he was a great actor who amazed the audience with his movies and characters.


Sathyan was born on November 9, 1912, in the village of Aramada near Tirumala, old Thiruvananthapuram, the son of Manuel and Lily's mother. He passed the scholarly examination at that time and became a school teacher. Joseph looked for a job at the school. He then worked for a year in the Secretariat. Joined the Army in 1941. He served in the Manipur Army of the British Army during the Second World War and left the Army to join the Travancore Police. Sathyan served in the Alappuzha Police Station during the Communist Revolution of 1947-48. Sebastian Kunju, who was acquainted at the time, met the filmmakers through Kunju Bhagwatar but did not get the chance. At that time, K. When I found out that Balakrishnan was preparing for the film Kaumudi, I went to see him and got the opportunity in 1951 with Sathyan Thyagaseema. After that the police quit his job and focused on the film itself. He abbreviated his name to Sathyan. Like all heroes, the first film, Tyagaseema, did not see the light of day. Then, there was no need to look back. Sathyan also grew with the growth of Malayalam cinema. But one of the turning points in Sathyan's life was Neelakkuyil released in 1954. The first Malayalam film to be written in Malayalam which is considered as a milestone in the history of Malayalam cinema. The film was written by the famous narrator Uroob. Sathyan is also the first actor to win the state award for best actor. Sathyan won the Best Actor award for his performance in Kadalpalam. Sathyan acted in a double role in Kadalpalam. Sathyan was also the hero of the first Malayalam film to receive the Central Government's Silver Lotus Award. Sathyan won the State Award for Best Actor posthumously. Sathyan won the award for his performance in the film Karakanakkadal.

Sathyan was diagnosed with severe leukemia in February 1970 while still in the film industry. The disease was confirmed when he saw a doctor after suffering from fever and anemia for several days. Sathyan continued acting despite the doctor's order of rest. It was only when he vomited blood during the filming of 'Experiences' that many realized the seriousness of his illness. He then drove himself to the hospital. To the children who came to see him ‘I have nothing. Let me go to sleep, 'he said. These were his last words. He finally passed away on June 15, 1971 at 4.30 am at the age of 59. Malayalamkara heard the news with shock. Sathyan's wife was Jesse. The death of an actor while filming was unknown at the time. When the body was flown on a special flight from Madras to Thiruvananthapuram, many people came to see him for the last time. Later, VJT also visited Sathyan's house.
