◾Governor's press conference against the Chief Minister and the government today. Press conference at Raj Bhavan at 11.45 am. The Governor had earlier announced that he would release the video footage of the attempt to attack him in the historic Congress and the letters sent by the Chief Minister demanding many undeserved favors. Calling a press conference by the Governor at Raj Bhavan against the Chief Minister and the government is an unusual move.
◾ Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the BJP is deceiving the people with its pseudo-nationalism which inflames communalism. He was addressing a CPM rally in Bagepally, Karnataka. The central government is putting pressure on the governments including Kerala financially and through other means. Pinarayi also accused the Congress of becoming a recruiting agency for the BJP.
◾Judgment today on the release petition filed by Wafa Feroze, the second accused in the case of killing journalist KM Basheer by being hit by a vehicle. Wafa maintains that he is innocent in the case in which IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman is an accused. The prosecution's position is that he was involved in the conspiracy. Out of 100 witnesses, not one has testified against Wafa.
◾The High Court will today consider the petition filed by Atijeevitha seeking to transfer the case of assault on the actress from the court of Judge Honey M Varghese. As requested by Atijeevta, the petition is being kept secret. The petition is against the transfer of the trial from the Ernakulam Special CBI Court to the Principal Sessions Court. It is alleged by Atijeetha that there is a relationship between the judge's husband and Dileep, the eighth accused in the case.
◾Movement to extend last year's lawyer's strike to more districts. The strike demanded action against the policemen who beat up the lawyer in Karunagappally. Meanwhile, DIG R Nisantini will submit the investigation report related to the incident to the state police chief the next day.
◾ Union Minister V Muraleedharan extended his support to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan who visited RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The Governor of Kerala has visited many leaders and religious leaders. ◾Police arrested a 45-year-old man who molested a 55-year-old woman in Vandiperiyar, Idukki. Puthanpurakkal Vinod Joseph, a native of Mattumkoot in Vandiperiyar Ayyappan Kovil, was arrested. The case alleges that Vinod had come to buy goods at a shop adjacent to his house, and when the shop owner went inside to take the goods, Vinod came back and raped him.
◾Police said that the toilet room scenes of other children were not filmed from the women's hostel of Chandigarh University. It is explained that the student who was arrested in the case where the toilet room footage was circulated, only sent her own toilet footage to her boyfriend. WhatsApp, the leading instant messaging app, is all set to introduce a feature to edit sent messages. If mistakes are noticed in the currently sent message, there is a system to delete the message and send a new one. Instead, WhatsApp is trying to introduce a feature that will allow the user to edit the sent message. Currently the WhatsApp feature is under development. Reports say that this will be introduced as a new feature soon. It will be available in beta version on testing basis before introducing the feature.

A new study shows that people under the age of 50 are now more likely to get cancer than others. A study conducted by researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital also found that after the 1990s, the risk of cancer among young adults increased significantly. The research findings were published in the journal Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology. Alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, smoking, being overweight and high consumption of processed foods all increase the risk of developing cancer at a very young age, researchers say. The study report also pointed out that today's youth are not getting enough sleep compared to the youth of a few decades ago. Human nutrition, lifestyle, body weight, environmental factors, and the microbiota in and around humans have all undergone major changes over the past few decades, researchers say. All these increase the risk of cancer. Researchers have concluded that the risk of cancer increases with each passing generation. Of the 14 types of cancer the researchers included in the study, eight were related to the digestive system. The study report adds that the food we eat affects the micro-organisms, including bacteria, and changes in this can lead to various diseases, including cancer. But researchers say a lack of data from low- and middle-income countries has hindered determining long-term patterns of cancer incidence.
