 The Gatimaan Express is the fastest train in India and has been running from Delhi to Agra since April 5, 2016. At 160 km per hour, it is the first semi-high speed train in India. The number allotted for the train was 12049/50. The inaugural procession took place on April 5, 2016 from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station in Delhi to Cantonment Station in Agra. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the inaugural function. Gatiman became the fastest train in India at that time, completing the 188-km distance between the two stations in 100 minutes. Gatiman has surpassed the speed of the Bhopal Shatabdi Express which was started in 1988 .. !!
